Working in a Series

I started out making art quilts by making ‘one-of’s’.
One of this.  One of that.
I find that I now prefer to work in a series.
One reason;
to become proficient enough to predict the outcome of a technique.
And to do that I need to focus and explore
rather than bounce from technique to technique.

When beginning a series, ask some questions:
“What do I really want to do?”
“What do I want to do more of?”
“What do I want to explore in depth?”

You may want to work on several pieces at once,
or you may want to complete one piece at a time.
In either case, let each new step, or piece, be inspired
by the previous step, by what came before.

Beware of WORMS!

White Old Republican Misogynist Spoons

A misogynist is a person
who dislikes, despises, or
is strongly prejudiced
against women.

A spoon is someone
who is too thickheaded
to be trusted with a fork
or a knife.

Chapter Books
These are Chapter Books.
They are intended to be used to commemorate or remember a chapter (an event, a trip, a memory) in someone’s life.
Each book is hand-made, constructed from fabric which has been covered  with tissue paper, glue, paste, polymer, gesso, acrylic paint and oil paint (among other things).
Each book is hand stitched with heavy-duty polyester thread.
Each book contains a couple of frames, for photos;  a few pockets, for mementos; and some blank pages,  for journaling.
